Cara Campbell started working as an artist in 1993 designing posters and publicity material for clubs in London (some of which featured in Blow and Sky magazines). Two years later she won a scholarship to attend the Laboratorio Per Affresco near Florence, studying traditional fresco techniques. In 1996 she was headhunted to join the English Heritage restoration of Windsor Castle, hand modelling decorative plaster relief on the ceiling of the Grand Reception Room. Further work on National Trust sites followed, alongside the development of her own work.
Cara continued to use traditional techniques, but as a medium for her own contemporary style - botanical fresco panels at "The Cross" (used by Sainsbury's, Laura Ashley and the BBC in their campaigns), oversized portraits (1 metre square) on fresco panels and 'schemes' or 'environments' for whole rooms with giant magnified plants and luminous skies. Her work has featured in Homes and Gardens and the Evening Standard magazine. She is currently working on commissions for private clients.
From 27th March for 2 months Cara's paintings and prints can be seen at 'The Herb Pharmacy', Hay on Wye.
